The indicator, which is attached to the inside of cosmetic jar lids, changes color to bright red when the product becomes contaminated with mold spores. This alerts consumers to the hazardous nature of the product and allows manufacturers to identify and address the source of contamination.

FCM Indicator supplied in roles. Before activation (while cosmetic manufacturing), the protective film needs to be removed to expose the adhesive layer. This will allow the adhesive to bond with the surface of the jar lid.
Sticker-indicator applied to the inside of the jar lid. It's important to make sure that the indicator is centred on the lid to ensure accurate results. Once the sticker-indicator is attached to the lid, the indicator is activated.
Once the sticker-indicator is attached to the lid, the indicator will be activated. This happens when the seal from the permeable layer is removed by the packaging machine, allowing air infected with mold spores to penetrate the permeable membrane and reach the growing medium layer.
The growing medium facilitates and accelerates mold and fungal growth, which alters the pH level and activates the indicator.
After a period of time, check the colour of the indicator. The colour change in the hydrogel indicates the pH level increase caused by the presence and development of mold and fungal cultures.
This provides a visual indication of potential contamination in the jar, which can be compared to predetermined values to determine the severity of the contamination.
